Genevieve Carson (B.F.A. Dance Performance ’07) was recently announced as the next Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company (LACDC), beginning January 2016. Carson’s first season of programming begins in September 2016. She has been a member of LACDC since 2009 and has choreographed a number of original works for the company, including its recent collaboration with indie band Foster the People for their summer 2013 touring production.

Since her training at Chapman University, Carson has been dancing, choreographing, and teaching throughout the Los Angeles area.  She works extensively in both concert and commercial dance. As a choreographer, she has presented work at the LA Dance Invitational, American College Dance Festival, Nate Holden Performing Arts Center, The Mall of Asia Arena, Firefly Music Festival, the Standard Hotel, Palm Springs Repertoire Theatre, Highways Performance Space, The Electric Lodge, LA Convention Center, and The Alex Theatre. Carson has choreographed for Comedy Central’s “The Eric Andre Show” and “The Kroll Show,” as well as an Adult Swim national commercial.  She is currently working on an evening-length dance theatre work titled “Unadult,” to be presented at The Electric Lodge in Venice, CA this November.  Additionally, she will be collaborating as a choreographer for LACDC’s upcoming fall 2014 show.
