Enjoy the inspiring music of Rachmaninoff and Mozart and support student scholarships when Chapman University’s Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music presents the annual Sholund Scholarship Concert Saturday, May 11, at 4 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
The Chapman Chamber Orchestra, University Choir, University Singers and award-winning pianist Arsen Jamkotchian ’14 will perform a program of choral-orchestral works, including Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concert No. 1, I. Vivace and Mozart’s Requiem K. 626, under the direction of Daniel Alfred Wachs, assistant professor and director of instrumental studies.
Jamkotchian is the winner of the 2012 Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music Solo Concerto Competition, an annual event at which conservatory students compete for an opportunity to perform a solo work with the Chamber Orchestra as part of its next season. Jamkotchian won first place in the spring of 2012. Past winners have included vocalists, pianists, and instrumentalists.
Sholund tickets are $10 to $20 and available for advance purchase from the Chapman University ticket office.
All proceeds from the concert benefit The Sholund Music Scholarship Fund, established in memory of Edgar Roy Sholund, Ph.D., a long time and much beloved member of the Chapman University faculty who passed away in 1966.
