On May 21, 2016, Madame Ping Sun, a world-class Peking Opera artist and recipient of the Doctor of the Arts honorary degree from Chapman University, attended the graduation ceremony of the Wilkinson College at Wilson Fields.

To express her deep appreciation for Chapman University’s acknowledge of her artistic contributions, she donated the first five
volumes
of
The English Translation Series of a Hundred Peking Opera Classics
and a copy of
An Illustrated History of the Fu Liancheng School of Peking Opera
to Chapman University when she and her husband attended the event. Their plan is to eventually build a Peking Opera archive here at Chapman University with a donation of the complete series when it is completed. This is their first archive on Peking Opera in the world outside China. They wish to build this first archive here because they view Chapman University as a world-class center for the arts and a world-class institution of higher education.

The visit was a rare treat. Charlene Baldwin, Dean of the Leatherby Libraries,  and Taylor Greene, Performing Arts Librarian, graciously accepted their wonderful contribution. The archive will be sure to aid future students in their research, learning about the culture of Peking Opera and its prestigious history.
