Canvas Video Guides Migrating from Vimeo to Canvas Studio by July 31, 2023
July 7, 2023
Canvas offers many video guides in order to help new and continuing instructors and students learn how to use Canvas.
In the past, those videos were stored in Vimeo. By July 31, 2023, Canvas plans to migrate all the video guides from Vimeo to Canvas Studio. This migration will change the links you use to link to Canvas-created training videos.
How will this migration impact me?
If you use Canvas video guides in any resources you share with Chapman faculty, staff, and/or students, you will need to update those links as soon as possible. Please review your Canvas resources and look for any embedded or linked videos that go to Vimeo. Those links will need to be updated and changed before July 31, 2023.
Outdated videos also have a URL that includes the word, “vimeo”. For example, https://vimeo.com/74243735
If you do not use Canvas-produced training videos in any of your resources then this migration does not impact you.
How can I relink my videos?
Canvas has created a linking resource document to make it easy for you to relink your videos. The document has direct links and embed codes for the new videos.
If you need instructions on how to use hyperlinks, you can reference the Canvas How Do I Create Hyperlinks training document.
