How do I make a Canvas quiz available to a student at a different time? EdTech Question of the Week

About EdTech Question of the Week
“It is not the answer that enlightens, but the question.” -Eugène Ionesco
Chances are, when one person has a question, many other people are wondering the same thing. In the spirit of learning from one another’s questions, each week we’ll share a question we’ve received from a Chapman instructor, staff member, or student along with the EdTech answer.
This Week’s Question and Answer
I just re-opened a Canvas quiz for a student. Somehow this deleted the quiz submissions and grades for all other students. I have no idea how this happened or how to fix it.
-Chapman Instructor
Sometimes there is a need to make a Canvas quiz available to a student after the rest of the class has already taken the quiz. When re-opening a Canvas quiz for a student, be sure to use the + Add button to add a different availability window and due date for the student rather than removing Everyone and replacing Everyone with the student’s name. If you remove Everyone, then Canvas will view the quiz as no longer assigned to the rest of the class. This causes all of the other students’ quiz submissions and grades to disappear. Fortunately, it’s easy to make them re-appear :-). Simply navigate to the quiz in your Canvas course, select Edit to edit the quiz, scroll down to the bottom of the Details tab, and use the + Add button to add Everyone back.
