{"id":5932,"date":"2023-03-22T13:23:07","date_gmt":"2023-03-22T20:23:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogschapman.wpenginepowered.com\/academics\/2023\/03\/22\/sustainability-microcredential-program\/"},"modified":"2023-03-22T13:23:07","modified_gmt":"2023-03-22T20:23:07","slug":"sustainability-microcredential-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/academics\/2023\/03\/22\/sustainability-microcredential-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Sustainability Microcredential Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To address the climate crisis and promote sustainability efforts on campus, Educational Technology Services consulted with the Office of Sustainability and the Faculty Senate Sustainability Committee to create the Sustainability Microcredential Program.<\/p>\n<p>The Sustainability Microcredential Program encourages Chapman University faculty and instructors to consider multiple ways to reduce paper usage by leveraging Chapman resources, the Canvas platform, and external applications.<\/p>\n<p>This online training course is asynchronous, with opportunities for virtual drop-in support. This two-phase micro-credential program demonstrates the instructor&#8217;s commitment to reducing classroom waste and minimizing environmental impact. Plan one to two hours per Level to read and submit assignments related to the presented content.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Level 1<\/strong> covers Canvas tools to reduce classroom paper use.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Level 2<\/strong> introduces virtual group work, collaborative documents, and optimizing cloud storage.<\/p>\n<p>Participants have two options for assessment associated with the program outcomes: <strong>SMART Goal assignment<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>Reflection and<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Self-Evaluation assignment<\/strong>. At the end of each level, participants who have done the required work will earn a badge to demonstrate their accomplishments.
