However, instructors and students may not realize that the functionality between the web version of Canvas and the mobile apps is different. Read on to learn the key differences.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Differences Between Canvas Web and Mobile Apps<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Overall, Canvas on the <strong>web<\/strong> provides the <em>full<\/em> set of features and the most complete experience, while the <strong>mobile apps<\/strong> (iOS and Android) offer strong core functionality optimized for on\u2011the\u2011go use, but with some limitations compared to the browser version.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>1. Navigation &amp; Dashboard<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Both web and app versions allow users to view courses, groups, grades, announcements, and the To\u2011Do list.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>web version supports all navigation features<\/strong>, while some app-specific capabilities (e.g., <strong>dark mode<\/strong>, widgets, switching users) are available <strong>only in the apps<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Certain features\u2014such as <strong>viewing Scheduler appointments<\/strong>\u2014are available on the web but not on mobile.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>2. Assignments &amp; Submissions<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Students can <strong>view and submit assignments<\/strong> in both the web and mobile apps.<\/li>\n<li>Mobile apps include extra device-specific features such as <strong>submitting assignments with the device scanner<\/strong> (camera-based scanning), which the web doesn&#8217;t offer.<\/li>\n<li>However, <strong>peer reviews<\/strong> and some advanced assignment interactions, such as <strong>rubrics<\/strong> are fully supported on the web but not on mobile.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>3. Discussions, Announcements, and Messaging<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Creating and replying to discussions and announcements is supported across web and mobile.<\/li>\n<li>Some advanced actions (e.g., certain attachment workflows or peer review visibility) may be <strong>limited or unavailable on mobile<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>4. Calendar<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>All platforms allow <strong>viewing the calendar<\/strong>, but only the web version fully supports <strong>viewing Scheduler appointments<\/strong> and certain calendar interactions.<\/li>\n<li>Adding calendar items is supported in the apps but not always at the same level of detail as the web.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>5.
