\n, BFA broadcast journalism \u201900, in our latest Chapman50 Alumni Spotlight. In her role as a Chapman50 member, Amber hopes to build a stronger Chapman alumni community. Read on to learn about her career and her advice for current students.<\/p>\n

<\/b>
\nWhat inspired you to become a member of Chapman50?
\n<\/b>
\nAs a real estate broker, foundation is important to me. I was excited to be part of the foundation of a group that had been absent for Chapman alumni and students.<\/p>\n

What impact do you hope to make as a member of Chapman50?
\n<\/b>
\nI would like to create the strong knit fraternity among Chapman graduates that you see with other universities. I want to see Chapman sweatshirts, bumper stickers and flags all over the place!<\/p>\n

Tell me about your career- what do you do on a day to day basis?
\n<\/b>
\nI own a real estate brokerage firm. Some days I am out in the field \u201cdriving for dollars\u201d and previewing potential investment properties. Other days I am in the office crunching numbers, meeting with clients, and creating lots of paper. (Dunder Mifflin would have loved to have me as a client.)<\/p>\n

What insight would you give to current students and alumni who are searching for employment?
\n<\/b>
\nWhile you are a student: intern, intern, intern. It will give you invaluable experience, contacts, and shows employers that you are motivated.<\/p>\n

What advice do you have for current students who want to make the most out of their time at Chapman?
\n<\/b>
\nThe time goes by quickly so don\u2019t delay something \u201cuntil next semester\u201d because before you know it you will be throwing your graduation cap into the air. I regret not taking advantage of the semester abroad program and not joining a sorority.<\/p>\n

From your time at Chapman, which faculty member(s) made the greatest impact on you and why?
\n<\/b>
\nAfter graduation, I worked as a news anchor\/reporter in Palm Springs. Professor
\nPete Weitzner<\/b>
\nreally prepared me for this experience with all of his great guest speakers who worked in the industry. I specifically remember an assignment when we had to interview, edit, and complete an on air package in one day. We thought that was a crazy deadline but that is exactly how you prepare a news piece in the \u201creal world\u201d.<\/p>\n

What is your favorite Chapman memory?
\n<\/b>
\nI have two. Orientation and graduation.<\/p>\n

What was your favorite spot on campus as a student?
\n<\/b>
\nArgyros Forum. It was the newest building on campus when I was a student. I was always bumping into friends on the way to and from class.<\/p>\n

How has your Chapman degree helped you in your professional and personal life?
\n<\/b>
\nAfter graduation I worked in the same field as my major, broadcast journalism. The equipment I worked with at Chapman was just like the real thing.<\/p>\n

How were you involved on campus during your time as a Chapman student?
\n<\/b>
\nI was in college! I was anti-establishment! The only clubs I was hitting were NOT on campus.<\/p>\n

Aside from Chapman50, how else have you been involved with Chapman since graduating?
\n<\/b>
\nNow that I have two careers, three kids, and a LOT MORE MATURITY, I feel equipped and excited to give back to my university for the first time.<\/p>\n

Is there anything else you\u2019d like to share with the Chapman Family?
\n<\/b>
\nDon\u2019t be shy, don\u2019t hold back. You only get one chance at student life so take advantage of anything that sounds interesting to you.<\/p>\n
