It’s said that when people gather, powerful things happen. And we know that when Panthers gather, extraordinary change follows. All College of Educational Studies alumni are invited to join forces with fellow teachers (and fellow Panthers!) at “Better Together: California Teachers Summit” on July 31, 2015. This\u00a0one-of-a-kind event aims\u00a0to help teachers build a powerful peer network, share best practices and access effective resources.<\/p>\n

The summit, hosted by\u00a0Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities<\/a>,\u00a0will take place at 33 locations across\u00a0the state with more than 20,000 California teachers from\u00a08 a.m.-2:30 p.m. It\u00a0will feature nationally renowned keynote speakers and opportunities to collaborate with fellow teachers to build a supportive statewide community of teachers.<\/p>\n

“(Our alumni are invited to) join\u00a0other teachers, educators and leaders in shaping and implementing tomorrow\u2019s education path, in particular, through learning more about the new California standards (including Common Core),” said Ky E. Kugler, EdD, ATC<\/a>, senior associate dean of CES. “Sharing best practices and cutting-edge technology is important for tomorrow\u2019s success. The students of California deserve this, and you as professionals deserve to be involved with something worthwhile and free.”<\/p>\n

In addition to keynote speakers and inspiring short talks by fellow teachers, the summit will include an introduction to the Edcamp model, call-to-action group discussions, and a chance for fun photo-ops to capture this special learning and connecting experience. Connect with Dr. Kugler<\/a> to let him know how your experience was if you attend. He also invites CES alumni to come by Reeves Hall to introduce yourselves and to meet Dr. Margaret Grogan<\/a>, new dean of CES.<\/p>\n
