This is the second year Wassail will be held in Musco Center for the Arts, making Professor Zubiate the first Chapman alum to direct the beloved holiday concert in Chapman&#8217;s new state-of-the-art concert hall.<\/p>\n<p>During his days as a Chapman student, Zubiate&#8217;s most treasured memories were choir performances and choir tours.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a student, I performed in Memorial Hall,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Now leading the performance in Musco Center is a thrill.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Zubiate recently completed coursework toward his Doctorate of Musical Arts in choral conducting and pedagogy at the University of Iowa, where he conducted the Camerata Singers and Kantorei, the university\u2019s premier ensemble. He also served as director of music for the Congregational Church of Christ of downtown Iowa City. He is the former conductor and music director for Old Capital Opera and Iowa City Concert Opera.<\/p>\n<p>Following his time in Iowa, Zubiate returned to Orange County. Prior to leading Chapman&#8217;s\u00a0University Choirs, Zubiate was the graduate conductor and chorus master of\u00a0California State University, Fullerton&#8217;s Opera Theater. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/patrick-zubiate\">View Professor Zubiate&#8217;s full bio\u00a0\u00bb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Wassail Concert, televised later in December (dates to be announced), includes favorite holiday numbers performed by\u00a0the Chapman University Singers, University Choir and Women\u2019s Choir, along with music performed by the Chapman Orchestra.<\/p>\n<p>Join your Chapman Family in getting in the holiday spirit, including with your fellow alumni like Zubiate.
