{"id":6458,"date":"2018-06-29T16:19:37","date_gmt":"2018-06-29T23:19:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogschapman.wpenginepowered.com\/alumni\/2018\/06\/29\/the-story-behind-a-chapman-sweetheart-couples-hit-travel-blog\/"},"modified":"2026-03-12T21:19:46","modified_gmt":"2026-03-12T21:19:46","slug":"the-story-behind-a-chapman-sweetheart-couples-hit-travel-blog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/alumni\/2018\/06\/29\/the-story-behind-a-chapman-sweetheart-couples-hit-travel-blog\/","title":{"rendered":"The Story Behind a Chapman Sweetheart Couple&#039;s Hit Travel Blog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In this episode of my podcast, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ryrob.com\/start-travel-blog-find-us-lost\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Side Hustle Project<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, I had a blast catching up with fellow Chapman alumni Selena Taylor &#8217;12 and Jacob Taylor &#8217;12, the couple behind the massively popular travel blog and and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/finduslost\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Instagram account<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> of the same name, &#8220;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/finduslost.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Find Us Lost<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I met Selena and Jacob when we were undergraduate students, around the same time when they began dating. After graduation, they moved to the Los Angeles area together.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Selena was working in marketing, and Jacob was doing freelance film production and photography, and working on a few other side projects. And it was at this time, a couple years out of college when the couple decided they didn\u2019t want to live long-term in Los Angeles and got the urge to do some traveling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">So, they packed their bags and went for an extended trip to Europe to see if they\u2019d like living in Amsterdam, where Selena\u2019s family has some ties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As they traveled, they began documenting their adventures on their brand-new travel blog and Instagram account, where they very quickly built an engaged community and started fielding offers from brands that wanted to collaborate with them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As of today\u2019s recording, Selena and Jacob have 154,000 Instagram followers, 16,000 monthly readers on their blog, 8,000 email subscribers and work with dozens of brands on producing high-quality content.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:
