A rising senior on the track and field team, Elon Grobey has spent three years competing in jumps, throws and sprints. He holds the Chapman record in the javelin throw at 39.17 meters (128 feet, six inches) and helped the Panthers put together their highest point totals in the SCIAC Championships since joining the conference in 2012-13.<\/p>\n
Elon is a graphic design major at Chapman and has had the opportunity to intern at Round Two Agency, a creative marketing studio in Los Angeles. They provide creative content and assets for clients including photo, video, graphic design, web design\/development and more.<\/p>\n
“Our edge comes out of a deep understanding of new platforms for marketing today’s brands,” says Elon. Round Two also focuses on brand strategy, social strategy, influencer and public relations and digital marketing. Elon’s internship provided real-world experience in the ever-changing landscape of creative marketing.<\/p>\n
“As a graphic design intern, I was their only in-house designer who worked on designs for the existing clients\u2019 socials, print media, and more, as well as internal materials for Round Two itself. My work can already be seen on our client\u2019s and Round Two\u2019s socials.”<\/p>\n
Elon has nothing but good things to say about what he’s learned along the way. “I\u2019ve gained skills in becoming more aware of a brand\u2019s image, and continuing that image while also adjusting direction as time passes. These skills absolutely help me carry myself into the future: I have better abilities and knowledge around marketing and branding and I can apply my design skills in more focused ways.”<\/p>\n
Round Two Agency liked Elon’s work enough to offer him a part-time position as an in-house designer, a role and journey he has begun this summer.<\/p>\n
Elon says he wouldn’t trade his time on the Chapman track and field team for anything. “It [track and field] has given me the opportunity to compete at the college level in a meaningful way – the growth of the division and our program allows me to personalize my experience and compete alongside my friends in a way that I find suits me best.”<\/p>\n
He also credits Head Coach DeAndra’e Woods with his work ethic, both on the track and on the job. “All of us are encouraged to compete at our highest level and it is contagious. I’m excited to continue into my senior year with the team.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
