Since its inception in 1985, Microsoft Excel continues to be the most popular spreadsheet programming tool known to the computing world. Over the years, Excel has gone through several major updates to support data collection, chart formulation and statistical functions. By focusing on the end user experience, Excel separated itself from competitors by being the first spreadsheet program that allowed the user to choose the design and appearance of spreadsheets.
