Industry partners that share our goals\u00a0and vision are a key to our success.\u00a0Collaborations with businesses are a core\u00a0component of an Argyros School education\u00a0and are a winning experience for our\u00a0students, as well as our industry partners.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Argyros School of Business and Economics is\u00a0thrilled to announce its recent partnership with the\u00a0Honda Center\/Anaheim Ducks<\/a> organization. This\u00a0partnership is an extension of the business theories\u00a0being taught in the classroom. Four Argyros School\u00a0seniors are receiving an experiential education\u00a0opportunity working first-hand with business leaders\u00a0at the Honda Center\/Ducks.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Honda Center<\/a> is one of the premier entertainment\u00a0and sports venues in the country. Opened in 1993,\u00a0the venue is owned by the City of Anaheim<\/a> and\u00a0managed by Anaheim Arena Management, LLC. The\u00a015,000-square-foot facility hosts a variety of sporting\u00a0events, as well as concerts, and it is home to 2007\u00a0Stanley Cup champions \u2014 the Anaheim Ducks.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This partnership is an opportunity for the student\u00a0team to provide analytical insight on an important\u00a0piece of the company\u2019s revenue stream: the box suites.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

These suites provide a luxurious experience for guests\u00a0attending one of the many sporting or concert events\u00a0hosted by the Honda Center. The four-person student\u00a0team has been given access to more than 10 years\u00a0of historical data (no company or individual names\u00a0are identified) on the suites that the Honda Center\/Anaheim Ducks offer for lease and for rental. The\u00a0team is analyzing the data, using a variety of analytic\u00a0tools, and developing recommendations for how to\u00a0maximize revenue for the suites. \u00a0The recommendations\u00a0will include strategic insights (e.g., how many suites\u00a0to lease versus rent) and more tactical, in-season\u00a0suggestions (e.g., what drives higher rental pricing).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The information gathered by the students will be used firsthand by the\u00a0Honda Center\/Ducks.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The student team regularly meets both at Chapman University and onsite\u00a0at the Honda Center. The team has access to key senior executives\u00a0within the company, including the chief revenue officer and the\u00a0director of premium sales and servicing. The team is being advised by\u00a0Assistant Dean and Associate Professor Ken Murphy<\/a> and Dean Reggie\u00a0Gilyard<\/a>. Both advisors provide an extensive background in operations\u00a0and consulting to the student team. Dr. Murphy teaches business\u00a0analytics, operations management, statistics, and information systems\u00a0courses in the executive, graduate, and undergraduate programs.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Prior to coming to Chapman, Dean Gilyard served as a partner and\u00a0managing director with Boston Consulting Group<\/a> \u2014 a $4B+ global\u00a0management consulting firm. The Argyros School of Business and\u00a0Economics is grateful for this experiential opportunity that is allowing\u00a0students to apply the skills learned in the classroom to real-world\u00a0business needs.<\/p>\n
