\n“That was it! I was afraid of never having lived. I wanted to soak up life. To experience all of it. To squeeze every ounce of meaning, friendship, achievement, and so forth out of the time that I had on this Earth. I was all in. I was excited. I was motivated and ready to go. It was my time.”

\nThis is what inspired Matt Munson to write
\nTIMEOLOGY<\/em>
\n, a book about gaining perspective and living life to the fullest.
\n
\nMunson is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the Argyros School, the CFO for a mid-sized Southern California corporation in the real estate industry, and is also a community member, son, husband and a father of three.
\n
\nMunson wrote
\nTIMEOLOGY<\/em>
\n because he was so enthusiastic about life that he became overwhelmed with determining which opportunities to follow. “There were simply too many paths and possibilities of things to do or pursue,” said Munson. “Which are the ones that lead to true success?”
\n
\nIf you can relate to Munson’s crunch for time and self-questioning, this book is for you!

\nIn this self-discovery book, Munson offers a framework by which we can link “how we trade our time” with “living our life to the fullest.” Through exploring the co-dependence of living authentically (being who we are) and living significantly (including the needs of others in our life),
\nTIMEOLOGY<\/em>
\n provides the perspective needed to live fully. The results not only come from getting the life we want, but from giving of ourselves to find the life we were always looking for.
\n
\nOne key Munson explores is learning how to balance competing priorities – which is a common struggle. He says we must figure out the driving force to what it is you’re doing before you examine what or how you’re doing it. Munson summarizes this by saying you must figure out the “Why” before understanding “How” or “What” to accomplish.
\n
\nOne of the driving forces behind the book
\nTIMEOLOGY<\/em>
\n came from his personal experience as a 20-something year old with a successful Fortune 500 CEO who worked around the clock. While others viewed the CEO as successful, Munson realized that this gentleman had signed up for a life that didn’t allow time for the people that mattered most in his life.
\n
\nThis caused Munson to pause and reflect on his own life, which appeared to be trending down the same path. Realizing that what he was striving for was not what he really wanted, Munson made adjustments to achieve what we really wanted in life – balance.
\n
\n“In retrospect, a large culprit in that was not having a clear understanding of what my priorities really were. Having gained perspective and now having a better understanding of the priorities in my life, I would offer the following as my definition of balance: “Balance is giving time to things commensurate with their true importance, not societal or worldly imposed importance.””
\n
\nMunson leaves us with this quote from Henry David Thoreau:

\n“The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it”.
\n

\nMatthew Munson is an Assistant Professor at the Argyros School of Business and Economics at Chapman University. He holds both a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and an MBA from Chapman University. He has also held a real estate license since 2005. Munson has diverse professional experiences in the accounting and finance industry with expertise in financial analysis, corporate accounting, global pricing, mortgage banking and real estate finance.
