\nLike 99.9 percent of Panther student-athletes,
\nTaylor Carter<\/a>
\n‘s playing career won’t reach beyond the Chapman University gridiron. But his football experiences have laid the foundation for a career that will be equally competitive and rewarding.
\n
\nCarter spent the summer before his senior year in the heart of Wall Street working a dream internship with
\nNASDAQ<\/a>
\n where he drew from the lessons learned as a Panther to do more than just fetch coffee for his supervisors.
\n
\n“They gave me an opportunity to help lead several very meaningful projects with a significant impact on their business, which didn’t leave much time for fetching coffee,” said Carter.
\n
\nCarter’s bosses, while left thirsty, were also impressed. So much so that he was offered and has accepted a full-time position with
\nNASDAQ OMX Group<\/a>
\n beginning in July 2015 after he graduates from Chapman. There he’ll work with recent Chapman alumni Anna Zayakina and Michael Mehlhaff ’13 (a fellow Panther football alumnus)
\n
\nA business administration major, he first became aware of the NASDAQ internship through the ”Walk Down Wall Street” class with Dr. Terry Burnham offered during Interterm last year; a course which Carter described as “intensive and fast-paced”. Through a competitive application and hiring process, Carter was selected to an elite pool of interns for the summer.
\n
\nThe San Ramon, Calif. native credits
\nChapman football<\/a>
\n with extending his education beyond the classroom.
\n

\n“The hard work, discipline, dedication and time management skills required to be a student-athlete helped prepare me for any type of environment I might encounter in the workforce,” said Carter. “When you are able to communicate effectively and selflessly put the team’s needs before your own, you can succeed in any facet of life.”
