As a student, I\u2019ve browsed for internships many times and signed up for numerous events. On the Peer Career Advising and Student Worker side, I\u2019ve approved thousands of job requests and hundreds of employers, helped students book appointments, and more! With all of the experience I\u2019ve accumulated, I figured I\u2019d write a guide on how students could best utilize this pretty awesome resource and a few tips.<\/em><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\">\n<hr \/>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-15507\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/career\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/80\/2020\/08\/handshake-logo-square.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"30\" height=\"30\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So you might have seen this symbol here and there around campus or on Chapman\u2019s website&#8230; but what in the world is this fun little logo? This is <a href=\"https:\/\/chapman.joinhandshake.com\/\">Handshake<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-95 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/career\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/80\/2020\/08\/handshake_logo_light-on-HS-red.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"317\" height=\"145\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/career\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/80\/2020\/08\/handshake_logo_light-on-HS-red.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/career\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/80\/2020\/08\/handshake_logo_light-on-HS-red-300x137.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/career\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/80\/2020\/08\/handshake_logo_light-on-HS-red-768x351.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 317px) 100vw, 317px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">The #1 resource for Chapman students to find opportunities on and off-campus.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">An easy tool to use that can be accessed through the<a href=\"https:\/\/chapman.joinhandshake.com\/\"> website<\/a> or by downloading their app on<a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/app\/apple-store\/id1220620171\"> Apple\u2019s App Store<\/a> or the<a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.joinhandshake.student&amp;hl=en_US\"> Google Play Store<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Where employers (who are directly looking at Chapman talent) post opportunities for paid and unpaid jobs, internships, volunteer opportunities, research, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><i>Fun Fact: The Office of Career and Professional Development approves hundreds of new employers monthly and new opportunities weekly! Just like a key component of academic success is staying up-to-date with your courses in Canva\/Blackboard, Handshake serves as your one-stop-shop hub for all things career development. From getting help, to accessing resources, connecting with employers, and applying to internships \u2014 it all happens on Handshake.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Access to <i>thousands<\/i> of jobs and employers.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Invites\/reminders about career<a href=\"https:\/\/app.joinhandshake.com\/events\"> events<\/a>!<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/app.joinhandshake.com\/job_role_groups?ref=content-type-nav\">Explore careers<\/a> and receive personalized<a href=\"https:\/\/app.joinhandshake.com\/postings\"> job\/internship recommendations<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/app.joinhandshake.com\/appointments\/new\">Book an appointment<\/a> with a Career Educator, your school-specific Career Advisor, or a Career Peer Advisor.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Submit surveys to use your voice and get events scheduled that <i>you<\/i> want to see!<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/app.joinhandshake.com\/schools\/259\/articles\">Career resource hub<\/a> from resume sample to networking tips.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Pretty cool right?
