Ciao, mi chiamo Kayla! <\/span><\/p>\n

From the moment I stepped onto the historic cobblestone streets of Rome, I was transported into a world \"\"where every corner whispered stories of emperors and artists. My semester abroad at Temple University, nestled in the heart of this ancient city, was an experience that transcended my expectations. As a second-year student majoring in Business Administration with a focus on Finance and a minor in Leadership, my academic journey was greatly enriched by the vibrant Italian culture and the global perspective I gained.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Living near the Vatican, I had the privilege of exploring some of Rome’s most iconic historical sights regularly. The majestic Colosseum, the awe-inspiring Pantheon, and the bustling Piazza Navona were part of my everyday scenery. These landmarks, each steeped in history, became my silent tutors, teaching me lessons beyond the confines of traditional education. The proximity to the Vatican allowed me to visit it often, attending masses and even seeing the Pope, which was a profoundly moving experience. The beauty of the Sistine Chapel, with Michelangelo’s breathtaking work, was a source of constant inspiration and reflection during my stay.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rome is not just a city; it’s a sprawling museum, a haven for food lovers, and a vibrant tableau of modern life playing out against ancient ruins. The aroma of freshly baked pizza, the rich flavors of homemade pasta, and the heavenly taste of gelato\u2014caramel, chocolate, and stracciatella. I found myself indulging in a gelato nearly every day, a ritual that never lost its charm 🍨! Dining in Rome goes beyond mere sustenance; it’s a celebration of centuries-old culinary traditions that I was lucky enough to experience firsthand.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The geographical heart of Italy also served as a launching point for countless adventures across Europe.\"\" Thanks to Europe\u2019s well-connected transportation networks, I spent my weekends discovering new landscapes and cities. Whether it was the snowy peaks of Switzerland or the vibrant markets of Budapest, each destination offered a fresh perspective and new lessons. These excursions were not just trips; they were integral chapters in my personal and academic growth, teaching me to navigate different cultures, languages, and transportation systems.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Adapting to a new city and a different educational system tested my resilience and pushed me out of my comfort zone. I tackled the language barrier, navigated the maze-like streets of the city, and embraced the Italian approach to education, which emphasizes critical thinking and real-world applications of theoretical knowledge. These experiences sharpened my problem-solving skills and made me a more adaptable and confident individual.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond the academics and the breathtaking travel opportunities, my semester abroad was a journey of personal discovery. Learning to live independently in a foreign country taught me about my strengths and weaknesses and gave me a newfound appreciation for my capabilities. It also brought a sense of adventure into my everyday life\u2014a quality that I will carry into my future endeavors.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"As I reflect on my time in Rome, my heart is full of gratitude. I am thankful to Temple and Chapman University for providing me with this incredible opportunity to grow academically and personally in such a historically rich setting. The blend of education, cultural immersion, and personal development I experienced has transformed me. I return home not just with a heavier suitcase full of leather goods, but with a heart full of joy and a mind expanded by knowledge and unforgettable memories.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This semester has undoubtedly been a highlight of my educational career and a cornerstone of my personal growth story. I leave Rome with a lifetime full of memories, experiences, and stories to tell that I will cherish forever and lessons that will guide me through life.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
