\n Artwork is wrapped and organized in the Collection’s warehouse as shelving units are moved and adjusted.<\/figcaption><\/figure>

\nThe Collection’s art storage warehouse and display areas in Beckman Hall are getting a makeover! After months of preparation and planning, which included condition reporting and safely wrapping works of art, the mini-renovation process has begun. In storage, existing shelving units have been adjusted to hold pieces more securely, and are repositioned to distribute weight evenly and utilize the space more effectively.
\n
\nThe result is a safer, more organized space to store the Collection’s numerous works of art and to process new incoming and outgoing acquisitions or loans. Though so much has already been accomplished, future goals include environmental security enhancements and designated stations for wrapping, condition reporting, and photographing pieces, separate from the Collection’s already-present computer station.  After joining as members of the American Alliance of Museums last year, Chapman’s Escalette Collection staff has been working to enhance its collections stewardship measures to meet current standards and best practices.
\n
\nThis is an exciting change for the Collection, and it is necessary as we continue to expand both the number of works in the Collection and our involvement with on-campus and community engagement.
\n
\nIn the coming weeks, Beckman Hall will be spruced up with fresh paint and reinforced security to support the artwork on display in its hallways.
