{"id":3765,"date":"2021-08-31T16:23:51","date_gmt":"2021-08-31T23:23:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogschapman.wpenginepowered.com\/collections\/2021\/08\/31\/through-our-lens\/"},"modified":"2026-07-22T16:27:32","modified_gmt":"2026-07-22T16:27:32","slug":"through-our-lens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/collections\/2021\/08\/31\/through-our-lens\/","title":{"rendered":"Through Our Lens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Escalette Collection of Art is excited to share <em>Through Our Lens: The Unification of Asian American Voices at Chapman University<\/em>, a virtual exhibition curated by Chapman student and Art Ambassador Candace Chen as part of her internship at the Chinese American Museum.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Through Our Lens\u00a0<\/em>is live at <a href=\"https:\/\/camla.org\/throughourlens\/\">https:\/\/camla.org\/throughourlens\/<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chen writes, &#8220;With the recent increase of anti-Asian hate, it is crucial to expose the issues of AAPI students to others in order to create awareness and increase advocacy for diversity and inclusion within university institutions.&#8221; The three artists from Chapman University featured in this exhibition collaborated with the Chinese American Museum to create a space to express themselves and speak about their AAPI experiences through a variety of media.<\/p>\n<h3>Kelsy Hua<\/h3>\n<p>Kelsy Hua is a Vietnamese-American digital and traditional artist from Santa Ana, CA.. She is a double major in Business Administration and Graphic Design. She was raised in Thousand Oaks, CA. She is currently pursuing a BFA in Studio Art at Chapman University. While she is a photographer first, her practice has evolved into mixing photography with other mediums, such as installation and sculpture. Polisini&#8217;s artwork often brings awareness to anthropogenic environmental issues and her identity as an adopted Asian American.<\/p>\n<p><a
