Thanks to the hard work and collaboration among the amazing teachers and staff of the CU\/OHS Literacies Partnership, we here at the Escalette Collection were able to host student visitors from Orange High School for an afternoon of great art and creativity.
\n
\nUpon their arrival, this group of 15 young artists were given a tour of our collection in Beckman Hall. Chapman’s own Student Art Ambassadors acted as tour guides, explaining background information about the pieces and fielding questions from the inquisitive visitors.

\n

\nThe OHS students must have been inspired: after the tour of the collection they were more than ready to create their own masterpieces. Supplied with plenty of art materials and large maps of California to use a drawing surface, the students didn’t waste any time before they got to work.

\nWe were blown away by the work that resulted! The original ways in which they were able to elaborate their ideas and express themselves was incredible, particularly considering the time constraints. With just a little more than an hour to work, the results were stunning. Needless to say, the next generation of young Orange County artists looks quite promising!

\nWe couldn’t have been happier with the way the afternoon went, and we were thrilled to be a part of this workshop organized by the CU\/OHS Literacies Partnership.
