Hello! My name is Chelsea Falcocchia, and I am a senior majoring in Communication Studies with minors in Leadership and Education. I am from San Jose, California, and it feels surreal to be entering my final year at Chapman. Over the past few years, Chapman has truly become my second home. I have loved getting involved in the Chapman community through leadership roles, campus organizations, and connecting with other peers in the School of Communication. I am currently involved in my sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, the School of Communication Honors Society, Lambda Pi Eta, and have an on-campus job. Through these experiences, I have met amazing people and have even formed some of my closest friendships! That being said, I am passionate about making connections, supporting others, and saying yes to new opportunities. As I head into my senior year, I am excited to continue learning and preparing for what comes next after Chapman.<\/span><\/p>\n

During my college application process, I was very intimidated and unsure of what was in store for the future of my academic career. I then came across Chapman University and eagerly applied as an early decision candidate. I chose Chapman not only because of its ideal location in sunny Orange or its perfect student-to-staff ratio, but also because of the strong sense of community that one is greeted with upon setting foot on campus. I highly value inclusivity and community, and when I toured the campus, I was overwhelmed with the sense of belonging that I was looking for. I was immediately met with friendly faces and open arms, and I continue to see this every day on campus. Since leaving my own family was hard for me, it felt reassuring knowing that a whole new family was waiting for me at Chapman. Not to mention, I am a huge Disney fan, so Disneyland being just a short drive away was the cherry on top.<\/span><\/p>\n

The School of Communication Student Advisory Board (2025)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Throughout my time at Chapman, I have leaned into my passion for leadership and supporti<\/span>ng those around me. From my early involvement in ASB in high school to now serving as a Peer Mentor on the Student Advisory Board for the School of Communication, I have always loved the responsibilities that come with being a dependable leader. Helping peers grow while facing challenges myself has been one of the most rewarding parts of my college experience. My Leadership and Education minors have shaped the way I approach mentoring, teamwork, and building communities.<\/p>\n

I decided to apply for the Student Advisory Board as a first-year student because I wanted to get more involved on campus and within the School of Communication. I enjoy serving as a mentor for other students, answering any questions they might have, and creating new friendships along the way. I have also learned so much about the School of Communication in this position, and am able to pass that insight on to my peers and prospective students.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chelsea abroad, spring semester of 2025 in Florence, Italy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Beyond academics, I have been fortunate to take on leadership roles in my sorority, work in event planning and recreation through my summer internship with Marriott Vacations Worldwide, and even spend a semester abroad in Florence, Italy, combining my love for communication with fashion and culture. Each of these experiences has <\/span>allowed me to connect with others, explore my passions, and grow both personally and professionally.<\/span><\/p>\n

As I enter my final year, I can\u2019t help but feel a mix of emotions. It really is bittersweet to approach the end of my time at Chapman. Here, I have made my best friends, found incredible roommates, built the strongest support system, and connected with mentors who have shaped me into the person I am today. I will be carrying every experience and friendship with me long after graduation. I am so excited to see what\u2019s in store for post-grad life!<\/p>\n

My advice to everyone: Make sure to make the most of what\u2019s coming, time sure goes by fast!<\/p>\n
