Wondering what\u2019s it like to manage a band\u2019s social media accounts? I\u2019ll tell you! My name is Allison Kremer, and I am a senior double majoring in strategic and corporate communication and public relations, advertising, and entertainment marketing. I have been working as an intern at ArtsPR, a Public Relations agency, for the past year, focusing on one of their clients, the Classical Mystery Tour, a Beatles cover band.<\/span><\/p>\n

Working with ArtsPR and the Classical Mystery Tour has been a dream internship, blending my passion for music with my interests in social media and public relations. One of my public relations professors, Professor Trela, is the founder of ArtsPR, and I was lucky to hear about the internship opportunity through him. <\/span><\/p>\n

My primary focus during the internship has been to run Classical Mystery Tour\u2019s Instagram and Facebook accounts. Classical Mystery Tour\u2019s fanbase demographic is 45 years old and older, making their Facebook account their top social media platform. Managing their accounts has been an incredible learning experience as I have been able to interact with Classical Mystery Tour\u2019s fans, grow their following, and familiarize myself with using Facebook, which I had never used before. Throughout my internship, I have created over 50 posts across both social media accounts, primarily announcing their concert dates and directly communicating with Classical Mystery Tour fans. Chapman courses such as Message Design and Theories of Persuasion taught me how to cater messaging to my target audience, a skill I regularly used when creating social media content.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to social media management, my role required organizational skills to prepare concert materials, including sheet music and merchandise. The Classical Mystery Tour plays with orchestras all across the country and rarely plays with the same orchestra twice. This makes it vital that the correct sheet music is sent to each orchestra before the concert so they have the proper music to play alongside the Classical Mystery Tour. Every week, I would prepare and organize Classical Mystery Tour’s sheet music to ensure that everything needed for each show was accounted for. In addition, I would prepare and send out boxes containing Classical Mystery Tour merchandise so fans could purchase T-shirts and CDs at each concert.<\/p>\n

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to complete this internship, as it has significantly improved my social media content creation and organization skills. If you are looking for an internship, I highly recommend speaking with your professors, as I would never have heard about this opportunity without my public relations professor.
