Over the <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">interterm,<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"> I had the incredible opportunity to intern with RSA Entertainment in Burbank, California, as a Public Relations and Social Media Intern. This experience not only gave me a firsthand look at the entertainment industry but also allowed me to apply what <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">I\u2019ve<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"> learned in my coursework to a real-world setting.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">I discovered this internship through <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">a fellow Chapman <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun CommentStart SCXW43065868 BCX4\">s<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">tudent<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"> last semester<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">. RSA Entertainment appealed to me because of its focus on public relations and social media, areas <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">I\u2019m<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"> passionate about exploring further in my career.<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">My primary responsibilities included supporting the PR and Social Media Managers&#8217; daily tasks. This encompassed creating content for social media platforms, <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">assisting<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"> with client outreach, and contributing to brainstorming sessions for upcoming campaigns. I also honed my skills in planning and time management, juggling multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">One of the most exciting parts of the internship was <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">when I got the <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">opportunity<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"> to visit Paramount Studios for a screening of the Bob Marley movie. The tickets were provided to me by<\/span> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">RSA,<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"> and it<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"> was <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">a great<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"> opportunity<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"> to see what goes into making these movies.<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"> This hands-on experience deepened my understanding of how public relations and social media intersect to build brands and connect with audiences.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-19783 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/communication\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/77\/2025\/01\/Screen-Shot-2025-01-29-at-5.31.40-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"249\" height=\"318\" \/><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">Several communication courses helped me excel in this role. For instance, <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">SCC 100<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"> gave me a solid foundation in crafting press releases and understanding audience targeting, which I applied while <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">assisting<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"> with client communications. Additionally, the principles of social media strategy I learned in <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">SCC 100<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"> were directly relevant to my work, especially when developing content calendars and analyzing engagement metrics.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">One of the most valuable lessons I learned was the importance of adaptability and teamwork in a fast-paced industry. A particular success story involved <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">getting a <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">last-minute<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"> booking that had to be <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">uploaded<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"> that day, yet other posts were already being sent out. Being<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"> able to delegate posts when it would get the most <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">attention<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"> from <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">audiences was<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\"> a major skill that I learned. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">Seeing my contributions make a tangible impact was incredibly rewarding and affirmed my passion for this field.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW43065868 BCX4\">Interning at RSA Entertainment was a transformative experience that enhanced my skills and clarified my career aspirations.
