Hi! My name is Brianna Jones, and I am a graduating junior with a major in Communication Studies and a double minor in Creative and Cultural Industries and Leadership Studies! This past semester, I had the opportunity to work for Emily Blair Media, a PR firm started by School of Communication alum Emily Marcus!<\/span><\/p>\n

In October, I attended EBM\u2019s first-ever Career Development Summit and, while there, was able to connect with multiple members of the team, one of those being the Social Media Lead at the time. This connection ultimately led to an internship offer as a Social Media Coordinator!<\/span><\/p>\n

As a Social Media Coordinator, I am responsible for supporting both EBM and clients\u2019 digital presence across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, and LinkedIn. My primary duties include creating and scheduling content that aligns with brand goals, managing daily social media activities, and engaging with online communities to build relationships and boost visibility, as well as tracking campaign performance by monitoring engagement metrics. Additionally, I support event coordination both online and in person, assist with paid media initiatives, and participate in team brainstorm sessions to develop fresh campaign ideas and promotional strategies. Throughout the internship, I have also gained hands-on experience with industry tools such as Bazaarvoice and\u00a0 Canva to optimize workflow and create visually engaging content!<\/span><\/p>\n

One particular communication course that I have found to be extremely beneficial in my experience with EBM is SCC 315: Social Media & Influencer Marketing with Matt Prince! The guest speakers who came into our class, particularly a speaker who came in from Canva, provided insights that I was able to apply when creating and developing content! I also recognized strategies from class about influencer partnerships and brand collaborations being used in real time at EBM.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mars the Label content day<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

One of my favorite experiences of this internship has been being the representative member of the Socials Team on set at a photoshoot for one of our UK clients, Mars The Label! As some members of Mars were visiting the States for a brief time, they hosted a content day in preparation for a line that was about to be launched, and I was asked to be on set to take content for this launch! As this job was typically beyond the scope of work of a typical intern, I was extremely honored to be trusted to take on this larger role within EBM.<\/span><\/p>\n

With all of this being said, I am extremely excited and grateful to report that I will be continuing with Emily Blair Media after graduation, as I have recently signed a full-time offer to stay on the team as a Social Media Coordinator! My experience with EBM thus far has been truly transformative and one of the most beneficial professional experiences I have had, and I am ecstatic to continue my professional journey with this company!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
