La Frontera \u2013 The Border Art Exhibitions Opening Celebration<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Beginning in fall 2019, Chapman University will investigate the issues surrounding the U.S. border, focusing primarily on the border between the U.S. and Mexico. Students from a number of different areas of study will have the opportunity to take part in discussions surrounding this topic through their academic courses, as well as varying facets of visual and performing arts. The goal of this interdisciplinary examination is to create an informed community fit to engage as global citizens, well-versed in the knowledge of one of this era\u2019s most debated topics.<\/p>\n

Some of the products of this multidisciplinary investigation will be on display to the public as a collection of art exhibitions. These honest displays of passionate emotion and creativity will feature forms of art from painting, to sculpture, to photography and videography, and everything in between. With a total of four exhibitions, there will be no shortage of works to explore.<\/p>\n

These exhibitions filled with unique and inspiring works are almost ready to be shown off! You are invited to a kick-off party on September 4th from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM<\/strong> to join in the celebration of the opening of the\u00a0 the Guggenheim Gallery\u2019s la frontera<\/em>\/the Border exhibitions. The evening will include music, food, and incredible art and is free and open to everyone! It is sure to be an evening filled with enrichment and enjoyment for all.<\/p>\n

The events do not end after the opening celebration. On October 17th at 7:00 PM<\/strong>, Jason De Le\u00f3n (2017 MacArthur Fellow) will discuss his \u201cUndocumented Migration Project\u201d<\/em> at the Folino Theater<\/a> in Knott Studios and on October 24th at 4:00 PM<\/strong>, Michelle T\u00e9llez will be telling \u201cLiberating Stories of Resistance along the U.S.\/Mexico Border\u201d<\/em> in Argyros Forum 209B<\/a>. The interdisciplinary interrogation of the issue of borders will culminate in the Border Conference<\/em> from November 14-17<\/strong> featuring various faculty members and guest speakers offering their own input or experience on the topic.<\/p>\n
