In October, Chapman began a phased return to in-person instruction while continuing to follow all guidelines from state and local health authorities. Although Orange County was recently moved\u00a0to the Purple Tier by Gov. Newsom, Chapman continues to implement a robust health monitoring program includes COVID-19 monthly testing and daily screenings for anyone returning to campus, and continues to evolve and adapt to the changing circumstances of the pandemic.<\/p>\n

While several isolated clusters of COVID-19 cases have appeared in campus housing, the administration responded swiftly with isolation for those affected, contact tracing and increased, continual testing.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur contact tracing has not found specific events at Chapman that are causing the spread of COVID-19,\u201d said Harold Hewitt, Chapman University Executive Vice President and COO.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cNor have we experienced an on-campus outbreak caused by an individual off-campus party.\u201d<\/p>\n

Signs have been posted throughout campus to remind students, faculty and staff to follow the CU Staying Healthy Guidelines, including wearing face coverings and practicing social distancing, even when they go out into the community.<\/p>\n

Chapman School of Pharmacy Professor & Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice, Jeff Goad, is a member of California\u2019s Department of Public Health (CDPH) COVID-19 Vaccine Drafting Guidelines Workgroup. Goad is collaborating to draft guidelines for the prioritization of initial supplies of COVID-19 vaccines on behalf of the COVID-19 Community Vaccine Advisory Committee. The vaccine is expected sometime in March or April.
