Hello, Chapman parents and families! The <\/span>Office of Community Relations<\/span><\/a> would like to extend a warm welcome back as students return to campus.\u00a0 As many students live off-campus in the City of Orange, we would like to share some resources and information about the surrounding community.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Office of Community Relations proudly serves as a liaison between the University and the residents, city and elected officials, civic organizations, and businesses who call our surrounding communities home.<\/span><\/p>\n

Whether you are interested in learning more about how the University is engaged with local schools and non-profit organizations, you wish to speak with someone about a challenge in your neighborhood involving students, or you are simply looking for more information on how to catch the next headliner at Musco Center for the Arts, we are always available to help our neighbors.<\/span><\/p>\n

About Old Towne Orange<\/strong><\/p>\n

A favorite of locals and visitors for more than a century, Old Towne Orange boasts beautifully preserved historic streets lined with antique dealers, specialty shops, art galleries, and restaurants.\u00a0 Old Towne is home to the largest Nationally Registered Historic District in California, and its distinct architecture makes it a popular location for shooting films and television.\u00a0 The residents of Old Towne Orange, many of whom have lived in their historic family homes for generations, have a tremendous sense of pride in Old Towne, which has been repeatedly voted Orange County\u2019s favorite downtown.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

FAQs for Students Living Off Campus<\/strong><\/p>\n

We house a collection of resources for students to utilize to ease the transition into living in the surrounding community (once eligible to do so).\u00a0 Our <\/span>Off Campus Student Guide<\/span><\/a> is a wonderful place to begin for educational and practical resources for students living in the local community. Topics covered include: noise\/disturbances, property maintenance, and parking.<\/span><\/p>\n

Student Employment and Volunteerism<\/strong><\/p>\n

At Chapman, we value our relationships with those living in the surrounding area, which in turn provides numerous opportunities for our students.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Chapman partners with a number of local nonprofits to offer volunteer opportunities for students who want experience in various areas including, education, business, environmental sustainability and more.\u00a0 For more information on how students can get involved, visit Chapman\u2019s <\/span>Office of Volunteer Engagement<\/span><\/a> or check out our <\/span>Civic Engagement Initiatives<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, many Chapman students have jobs in the local community.\u00a0 In fact, <\/span>Chapman Student Employment Services<\/span><\/a> helps students to coordinate work-study opportunities at local nonprofit organizations, as well as on campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

Did you know that many local businesses offer discounts for Chapman students?\u00a0 A non-exhaustive list of discounts is located <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>, and all it usually requires is showing your Chapman ID card<\/span><\/p>\n
