Teresa Smith<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Committee Members Absent<\/span><br \/>\nPat Buttress, Dennis McCuistion, Tim Virius<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Administration and Staff<\/span><br \/>\nAlisa Driscoll, Recording Secretary; James Doti, Harold Hewitt Jr., Daniele Struppa<\/p>\n<p><strong>CALL TO ORDER<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Harold Hewitt called the meeting to order at 10:09 a.m.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CHARGE TO COMMITTEE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>President James Doti began by stating that the reason the Neighborhood Advisory Committee was formed was to join together and develop solutions on issues facing the community. The Committee will focus on converting the issues into a win-win strategy to enhance Chapman University, the neighborhood, and our overall relationship with the community. President Doti also assured the Committee that, upon his retirement as Chapman\u2019s President in 2016, he is leaving Chapman in the good hands of Chancellor and Presidential Designate Daniele Struppa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISCUSSION OF PROCESS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Committee agreed that minutes will be developed and published subsequent to each meeting.<br \/>\nCommittee agreed that experts with information about specific topics that the Committee plans to address will be invited to future meetings.<br \/>\nNeighborhood Advisory Committee Meeting<br \/>\nMinutes \u2013 November 5, 2015<\/p>\n<p><strong>IDENTIFICATION OF CONCERNS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Committee members identified several issues they feel need to be addressed at future meetings.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Student housing \u2013 ways to house more students on campus and fewer students in the community.<\/li>\n<li>Parking in areas surrounding campus \u2013 ways to park more student vehicles in Chapman parking facilities instead of surrounding neighborhoods.<\/li>\n<li>Party houses \u2013 ways to address loud, large, disruptive repeat party houses on private property in residential neighborhoods.<\/li>\n<li>University growth \u2013 address the issues related to Chapman\u2019s proposed expansion plans and talk about issues surrounding campus growth.<\/li>\n<li>Request for Chapman to appoint a primary lead person for community interaction \u2013 make it easier for the public to understand how to communicate with Chapman.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The Committee also briefly discussed the mobilization of Chapman University students, as they may be able to help deliver solutions that are brought up to and identified by the Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Due to time constraints, the Committee agreed that additional issues may be identified in future meetings. It was understood throughout the discussion that this meeting was for identifying important issues. Issues will be taken up individually at future meetings dedicated to a single topic. This is when the Committee will explore solutions in detail.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SCHEDULING OF NEXT MEETING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The next Committee meeting will occur on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in Argyros Forum 209C and the topic will be on the development of additional on-campus student housing.
