The Class of 2016 from Chapman University’s College of Performing Arts will hit the ground running after graduation, with many of our newest alumni\u00a0keeping busy over the summer before heading to top-level institutions across the country to begin work on advanced degrees, and others\u00a0clocking-in immediately to their chosen professions.<\/p>\n
Here are some of the exciting highlights we’ve learned:<\/p>\n
Dongwhi “Tony” Baek<\/strong> (BM, Music Performance (vocal) ’16)\u00a0has been accepted to the\u00a0Cinncinati Conservatory of Music<\/strong> under\u00a0William McGraw.<\/p>\n Ben Bigler<\/strong> (BA, Dance ’16)\u00a0<\/strong>was recently signed with Movement Talent Agency<\/strong> in Los Angeles<\/strong> and will move there to pursue a dance career.<\/p>\n Spencer Boyd<\/strong>\u00a0(BM, Music Performance (vocal) ’16) will pursue his Master of Music, Vocal Performance at\u00a0Kent State University<\/strong>, and begins a\u00a0graduate assistantship in the fall under\u00a0Professor Timothy Culver. In the meantime this summer, he will be at the\u00a0Franco-American Vocal Academy<\/strong> in\u00a0Perigeux, France performing in\u00a0Vincent in Gounod\u2019s Mireille.<\/em><\/p>\n Sarah Brown <\/strong>(BM, Music Performance (vocal) ’16)\u00a0will attend Northwestern University<\/strong> to pursue her Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology. Her goal is to\u00a0specialize in vocal health.<\/p>\n Stephanie Calascione <\/strong>(BA, Music ’16)\u00a0was\u00a0accepted into\u00a0all six of the graduate schools where she applied for study in\u00a0the field of arts administration. Her final\u00a0choice was the prestigious University of Cincinnati’s\u00a0College-Conservatory of Music<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Julia Dwyer <\/strong>(BM, Music Performance (vocal) ’16)\u00a0has been accepted to the New England Conservatory of Music<\/strong> to pursue a Master of Music, Vocal Performance degree under Professor Bradley Williams.<\/p>\n Morgan Green <\/strong>(BA, Theatre ’16)\u00a0will start work in a year-long position with Florida Studio Theatre<\/strong> in Sarasota, FL as a paid literary management intern. The position also affords her an opportunity for employment when it concludes.<\/p>\n Michael Fleming<\/strong> (BM, Music Composition ’16)\u00a0will attend the University of Oregon<\/strong>\u00a0to begin work on a Master of Music in Music Composition.<\/p>\n Alvin Ly <\/strong>(BA, Music ’16)\u00a0was accepted into multiple graduate programs and chose to pursue a dual degree at Indiana University<\/strong>, which is among the very top scholarly grad programs in music. He\u2019ll be working on both Master of Arts, Musicology and Master of Library Science degrees.<\/p>\n Heather Moore <\/strong>(BM, Music Performance (piano) ’16)\u00a0has summer plans to study with internationally acclaimed pianists at the Dublin International Piano Festival<\/strong>, continue teaching her studio of 15 students, play piano for St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, and work as the official accompanist at Utt Middle School in Tustin, CA. She plans to apply to graduate school in the fall.<\/p>\n Kathryn Rock<\/strong> (BM, Music Performance (vocal) ’16)\u00a0<\/strong>will attend\u00a0Indiana University Jacobs School of Music<\/strong> to study under Tim Noble.<\/p>\n Mariah Spears<\/strong> (BFA, Dance ’16) will be\u00a0traveling in Europe<\/strong> for two months, and then will relocate to Los Angeles, CA<\/strong> to pursue a career in commercial dance.<\/p>\n Chlo\u00e9 Tardif <\/strong>(BM, Music Performance (violin) ’16) will begin work on a Master of Music degree in Violin Performance at the Shepherd School of Music<\/strong> at Rice University<\/strong> in Houston, Texas starting this fall.<\/p>\n Kayla Topp<\/strong> (BFA, Screen Acting ’16)\u00a0plans to move to Los Angeles<\/strong> after graduation to pursue her career acting in film, television, and theatre.<\/p>\n Elliott Wulff <\/strong>(BM, Music Performance (vocal) ’16) will pursue a Master of Music, Opera Performance degree and\u00a0<\/strong>has been accepted to Arizona State University<\/strong> to study under Gordon Hawkins.<\/p>\n Congratulations to all of our newly minted graduates! We look forward to your continued successes!<\/p>\n Two\u00a0very\u00a0recent alumni of\u00a0the Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music report that they will begin their post-graduate studies after having taken a year’s hiatus to work and travel. This fall,\u00a0Duke Kim<\/strong> (BM, Music Performance (vocal) ’15)\u00a0enters Rice University<\/strong> to study under Stephen King, and\u00a0Marcus Paige <\/strong>(BM, Music Performance (vocal) ’15)\u00a0has been accepted to the\u00a0San Francisco Conservatory of Music<\/strong> under Suzanne Mentzer.
