Pleasant Library of Special Collections and Archives<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and will remain there through the end of the fall 2026 semester.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students and all other members of the Chapman community are encouraged to visit this new display and see these historical artifacts for themselves.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The collection contains several items pertaining to the rich history of student theatre productions, including programs, flyers, play scripts, communications in various forms, and photographs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Theatrical activities existed early on campus, through student organizations and courses such as speech, communication, and drama.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-4793 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/copa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2026\/10\/DSC_0010-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"The left side of the theatre department display case\" width=\"188\" height=\"283\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/copa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2026\/10\/DSC_0010-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/copa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2026\/10\/DSC_0010-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/copa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2026\/10\/DSC_0010-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/copa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2026\/10\/DSC_0010-1024x1536.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/copa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2026\/10\/DSC_0010-1365x2048.jpg 1365w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/copa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2026\/10\/DSC_0010-scaled.jpg 1707w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 188px) 100vw, 188px\" \/>Formerly known as the Department of Theatre and Dance under the School of Arts and Communications, the formal Department of Theatre was individualized with the creation of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/copa\/index.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">College of Performing Arts<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in 2007.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Department of Theatre at Chapman University provides rigorous pre-professional training in a liberal arts environment, encouraging exploration in the creative arts. Chapman theatre majors gain real-world experience working onstage and backstage with industry professionals and renowned faculty in state-of-the-art facilities. This display provides a glimpse into the Department of Theatre\u2019s history and evolution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">All items are from the College of Performing Arts, Department of Theatre Production Files, UA-052.
