\n Chapman University Singers<\/figcaption><\/figure>

\nUnder the direction of Stephen Coker, the University Singers will join conductor Maestro James Conlon, internationally renowned soloists, and massed southern California university choirs and orchestras in two performances of Britten’s monumental masterpiece,
\nWar Requiem<\/em>
\n.  One of music’s greatest anti-war statements, Britten’s masterpiece poignantly combines the moving WWI poetry of Wilfred Owen with the Catholic Mass for the Dead. In observance of the 2013 centenary of Benjamin Britten, the University Singers are pleased to become a part of LA Opera’s year-long festival “Britten 100\/LA:  A Celebration.”
\n
\nThe first performance, presented by the Philharmonic Society of Orange County, is November 24 at 8pm, in the 
\nRenee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall<\/a>
\n in Costa Mesa.  There will be a pre-concert lecture by Dr. William Hall, founding dean of the Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music, at 7pm.  The performance will include the Colburn Orchestra, members of USC Thornton Symphony, the Los Angeles Children’s Choir, the USC Chamber Singers, the Cal State Fullerton Choir, the California State University Long Beach Choir, and the New Zealand Youth Choir.

\nOn November 25 at 8pm at
\nWalt Disney Concert Hall<\/a>
\n in Los Angeles, the program will again be presented, this time by the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s
