Research included over 800 study participants and found no sizeable difference in body image perception when images included warning labels that the image had been photoshopped or contained subvertising. This can lead to a larger discussion on attempts to alter how the media presents advertising and promotion and its psychological effects. Dr. Frederick also consulted with Megi Herring and Crystle-Joie Agbayani and their research in &#8216;What Constitutes Sexual Consent and Assault? The Effects of Verbal, Physical, and Linguistic Cues.&#8217; As the researchers noted, a very present topic across universities nationwide currently.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1320 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/crean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/05\/Student-Researh-Day-022-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Students stands with research boards\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/crean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/05\/Student-Researh-Day-022-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/crean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/05\/Student-Researh-Day-022-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/crean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/05\/Student-Researh-Day-022.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At the Spring 2015 Student Research Day, held on May 13, undergraduate poster sessions consisted of<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/crean\/\">Crean College<\/a><br \/>\nHealth Science and Psychology majors&#8217; senior thesis projects as well as research projects conducted with faculty mentors.\u00a0 Physical Therapy graduate students made an appearance including, Matthew Asmus, Brittney Tanaka, and Brianna Roberts who presented their research the &#8216;R Project in the Clinic.&#8217; The students presented together at the<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/crean\/2015\/05\/15\/dpt-holds-notable-student-research-day\/\">DPT Student <\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/crean\/2015\/05\/15\/dpt-holds-notable-student-research-day\/\">Research Day<\/a><br \/>\nheld in April as well.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/marybeth-grant-beuttler\">Dr. Marybeth Grant-Beuttler<\/a><br \/>\nand<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/richard-beuttler\">Dr. Richard Beuttler<\/a><br \/>\nserved as advisors.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1314 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/crean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/05\/Student-Researh-Day-032-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Student and faculty member shake hands\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/crean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/05\/Student-Researh-Day-032-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/crean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/05\/Student-Researh-Day-032-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/crean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/05\/Student-Researh-Day-032.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of the faculty mentors, the well-known<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/steven-schandler\">Dr. Steven Schandler<\/a><br \/>\nstated that he was thrilled with the 100% student participation rate in psychology presentations for this year&#8217;s event.\u00a0Overall you could feel the sense that the faculty had come to know their students on an individual basis throughout their time here at Chapman. For those seniors who will celebrate their graduation in just over a week and move onto new endeavors, including graduate school, their feelings of sentiment in completing their last presentations were noticeable. \u00a0Their professors held the same emotion with enthusiasm for what the students had accomplished in their time here.\u00a0 Numerous students expressed hope that their research would live on and continue in the hands of fellow undergraduate students.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1315 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/crean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/05\/Student-Researh-Day-034-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Student stands with research board\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/crean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/05\/Student-Researh-Day-034-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/crean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/05\/Student-Researh-Day-034-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/crean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/05\/Student-Researh-Day-034.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Such as Kathryn Wann, who continued preliminary research with<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/david-pincus\">Dr. David Pincus<\/a><br \/>\nfrom his<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/crean\/2015\/02\/09\/big-data-big-discoveries-nonlinear-datapalooza-event\/\">Datapalooza Conference<\/a><br \/>\n, &#8216;Entropy and Pathology in the Menopausal Transition.&#8217; Bonnie Truong sought to compare the effectiveness in cognitive-behavioral therapy vs. other treatments, such as acupuncture, for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder in adults.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/laura-m-glynn\">Dr. Laura Glynn<\/a><br \/>\nwas in attendance to support students, including Kylee Moore, Amanda Appel, and Mariann Howland who presented &#8216;State of Mindfulness During Pregnancy and Associations With Positive Mood.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1324 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/crean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/05\/Student-Researh-Day-011-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Student stands with research\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/crean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/05\/Student-Researh-Day-011-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/crean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/05\/Student-Researh-Day-011-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/crean\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/75\/2015\/05\/Student-Researh-Day-011.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Psychology students spoke of their 50 page senior thesis projects due the very next day following the event with excitement and naturally a bit of nervous energy.\u00a0 Dr. Schandler&#8217;s stated that several students had a difficult time in narrowing their thesis to the 50 page limit and some would have preferred additional length to elaborate.
