Do you dream of studying the human brain and its impact on how we think and act? Well, today is your lucky day! Chapman University’s Crean College of Health & Behavioral Sciences<\/a> is proud to announce the launch of a brand-new minor in Neuroscience with the first term of instruction beginning in Fall 2020.<\/p>\n

Overview<\/strong><\/h3>\n

With the federal BRAIN initiative<\/a> projected to spend $4.5 billion on research in the course of a decade, Chapman has responded to the rapidly growing field of Neuroscience by adding a number of experts to their faculty as well as opening the new Interdisciplinary Institute for Brain and Behavioral Sciences.<\/a> Students have taken note of this emerging strength and have been developing self-designed Neuroscience programs for some time. The new minor will allow the college to meet this new interest and leverage the expertise of new faculty and research facilities. Programs participating in the interdisciplinary minor are biology, health sciences, philosophy, psychology, mathematics, and computer science. A minimum of 22 upper-division credits, completed in residency will be required to complete the minor.<\/p>\n

Prerequisites<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Chapman undergraduate students may declare the Neuroscience minor if they have completed the following prerequisites with a minimum grade of B (P\/NP not accepted): Philosophy: Any 100 or 200 level course; PSY 203, Math 203, or MATH 303; Biology 204 or 208; Psychology 101; Computer Science 230. The prerequisites are not part of the credits towards the minor, but completion of them allows a student to apply to the program.<\/p>\n

Neuroscience Director<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Assistant Professor of Health Science, Caroline Wilson, Ph.D<\/a>. will serve as the director and point of contact for the Neuroscience minor. Interested students with questions about eligibility or otherwise should contact Dr. Wilson at their earliest opportunity.<\/p>\n
