Clinical partners of Chapman\u2019s distinguished Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program<\/a> have been invited to campus for a first-ever Parkinson\u2019s Disease Symposium on Saturday, March 7, 2020.<\/a> Co-hosted by Crean College of Health & Behavioral Sciences<\/a> and the Department of Physical Therapy, the symposium will take place at the new Rinker Health Sciences Campus in Irvine, CA<\/a>. There will be five presentations by both DPT and inter-professional faculty covering a variety of topics including diagnosis, pathology, treatment, and of course, PT interventions. The symposium will conclude with a personal perspective on living with Parkinson\u2019s given by Barry Blaustein,<\/a> both a Chapman professor and Parkinson\u2019s Foundation<\/a> ambassador. DPT Clinical Assistant Professor, Dr. Patricia Brown<\/a>, who recently completed the highly selective \u201cTrain the Trainer\u201d program run by the National Parkinson\u2019s Disease Foundation, spearheaded the symposium. As reported in June 2019<\/a>, Dr. Brown was one of only six PT faculty leaders from across the nation accepted into the prestigious program. She wants to share her passion and knowledge with licensed physical therapists (PT) and physical therapist assistants (PTA) \u00a0throughout Orange County to help improve the quality of life for those affected by the disease.<\/p>\n

This event is \u201cinvitation only\u201d and open to existing clinical affiliates and clinicians. E-invitations with RSVP links were sent to partners on January 27. The deadline to register is February 24.\u00a0 The event is free of charge and 0.3 CEU credits are being offered to attendees.<\/p>\n
