Screening Committee Information:

The Camden International Film Festival currently has openings on its submissions committee for screeners. Based on last year, we expect to receive over 1700 documentary features and shorts. All of these films must be viewed at least once by a member of our committee.

Screening Committee members commit to watching at least 45 hours of films (a combination of shorts and features) between February and June 2021.

Members of the Screening Committee are also responsible for posting short reviews of the films, and rating each submission with between 1-10 stars on FilmFreeway. We will be assigning films to Screening Committee members on a rolling basis as films are submitted from our platforms FilmFreeway.

While this is a volunteer position, benefits include being recognized in CIFF program as part of the Programming Committee, a free All-Access Festival Pass, discounted CIFF merch, and the opportunity to experience exciting new, non-fiction work well before the general public!

This year, we will be offering screening committee members two virtual passes (and four virtual passes for “all-star” screeners who watch 75+ hours). As we are not 100% sure at this point in the year how much of an in-person element the festival will have next year, we will be willing to work with members if they are able to join our in-person festival (given things are looking up with the vaccine by next fall).

Screening assignments will begin February. We are also working to prepare monthly film chats with screeners (who would like to participate) to build community for the process. Hopefully watching films during the colder, quarantine months will be good company this winter.
