Did you hear? VFX Legend RICHARD EDLUND is teaching at Dodge College this spring!
Richard Edlund, the multiple-Oscar winning Visual Effects Supervisor, will co-teach the Industry Insiders class (DA 310-01) with Dodge College Director of Digital Arts Professor Bill Kroyer during Spring semester 2018.
Mr. Edlund is considered the “father of the new age” of visual effects for his industry-changing work on the first STAR WARS in 1977. He has supervised VFX work on dozens of the genre’s most important films, among them Raiders of the Lost Ark, Ghostbusters, 2010, Die Hard, Ghost, and Multiplicity.
This 16-week “survey course” will cover the history of visual effects from STAR WARS to this year’s Academy Award-nominated VFX films. In addition to insightful clips and informative behind-the-scenes “making of” material, Mr. Edlund will have industry guests who are the top names in the VFX industry.
You will gain insight and perspective on how effects are used to tell a story, and get an essential primer on how you may use visual effects in your future productions.
If you have an intention of being involved in the creation of motion pictures, you should not pass up this opportunity to learn about this essential process of filmmaking from one of the medium’s most knowledgeable and respected voices.
The class is a 3-credit course, and will be taught from 7-9:45 p.m. on Wednesdays in the screening room at Chapman Studios West.
