Taking place on Friday, April 7, the Women in Focus Conference will feature Academy Award\u00ae-nominated director <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0138927\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\">Niki Caro<\/a><\/strong> (<em>Whale Rider, North Country, The Zookeeper\u2019s Wife<\/em>); acclaimed director <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm2978148\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\">Sydney Freeland<\/a><\/strong> (<em>Deidra &amp; Laney Rob a Train, Drunktown\u2019s Finest, Her Story<\/em>); award-winning screenwriter and film director, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm2609807\/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1\">Kelly Fremon Craig<\/a><\/strong> (<em>The Edge of Seventeen, Post Grad, Streak<\/em>);\u00a0critically-acclaimed director, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0362566\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\">Catherine Hardwicke<\/a><\/strong> (<em>Twilight, The Twilight Saga, Thirteen<\/em>); and the first female Saudi Arabian filmmaker, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm2223783\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\">Haifaa Al-Mansour<\/a><\/strong> (<em>Wadjda, Mary Shelley)<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The panel will be moderated by producing veteran <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0142134\/?ref_=nv_sr_1\">Susan Cartsonis<\/a><\/strong> (<em>What Women Want, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Where the Heart Is<\/em>). These five entertainment leaders will share the experiences that have lead them to the positions they hold today, and address challenges they face in in a continually changing industry.<\/p>\n<p>Free and open to the public, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/dodge\/special-programs\/industry\/women-focus.aspx\">Chapman\u2019s Women in Focus<\/a> event has built a meaningful and on-going dialogue among emerging and established women in the film and TV industry throughout its 18-year existence. Beginning at 1:30 p.m. these five commanding female Hollywood directors will discuss their experiences breaking into the industry, building the relationships necessary for success, and overcoming obstacles through their careers.
