Dodge students have been overflowing with great news from film festivals and competitions as of late which we couldn&#8217;t be happier about:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hadley Hillel\u2019s\u00a0<em>Ernie,<\/em> has been nominated at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.watersprite.org.uk\/festival-2018\/the-2018-awards-nominees\/\">Watersprite Awards in Cambridge<\/a> UK for Best Fiction Film, Best Editing, Best Directing, Best Production Design, and Best Sound Editing. Hadley\u2019s other film\u00a0<em>Baby I&#8217;m Yours<\/em>, has won 2nd place for Best Short Film \u2013 College Student at the 3rd Annual AT&amp;T Film Awards, beating over 600 other entries to win a $3000 prize.<\/li>\n<li>Two student documentaries including Amanda Larsh, Caroline Roffe, Nicholas McDonald, and Hannah Bradford\u2019s <em>Dancing in Limbo<\/em>\u00a0and Hannah Mattner and Kat Satter\u2019s\u00a0<em>Hidden Life,\u00a0<\/em>have been officially selected for the Oscar-Qualifying <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bigskyfilmfest.org\/selections\/\">15th Annual Big Sky Documentary Film Festival<\/a> in Missoula, MT.<\/li>\n<li>Daniel Drummond has been accepted at the world-renowned talent development program <a href=\"https:\/\/www.berlinale-talents.de\/bt\/talent\/daniel-drummond\/profile\">Berlinale Talents<\/a>, which runs during the Oscar-Qualifying <a href=\"https:\/\/www.berlinale.de\/en\/HomePage.html\">Berlin International Film Festival<\/a> in February, for his in development short film,\u00a0<em>Rust,<\/em>\u00a0in the Short Film Station category. His Student Academy Award-finalist and First Cut selected film,\u00a0<em>A Foreman,<\/em>\u00a0will be making its North American debut, in a first-ever for Dodge College, at the Oscar-Qualifying <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ficg.mx\/descargas\/Seleccionados_FICG33.pdf\">33nd Annual Guadalajara International Film Festival<\/a> in Mexico competing in the Iberoamerican Short Film category.<\/li>\n<li>Elliott Powell, Jordyn Romero, Paloma Young, Rachel Lattin, and Riani Singgih\u2019s,\u00a0<em>Tigerstyle<\/em>, from the recently completed Project S class, made its World Premiere at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/2018\/01\/santa-barbara-film-festival-2018-slate-emilio-estevez-the-public-1201918299\/\">33rd Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Amanda Renee Knox\u2019s,\u00a0<em>Night Call,<\/em>\u00a0made its Los Angeles Premiere at the Oscar-Qualifying 26th Annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paff.org\/films\/#!\/film\/night_call\">Pan-African Film Festival<\/a>, and has also been officially selected at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinequest.org\/\">28th Annual Cinequest Film &amp; VR Festival<\/a>\u00a0in San Jose, the <a href=\"https:\/\/durangofilm.org\/wp\/\">13th Annual Durango Independent Film Festival<\/a>\u00a0in Colorado, and\u00a0the Oscar-Qualifying <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biff.bm\/\">21st Annual Bermuda International Film Festival<\/a> from March 17th-25th.<\/li>\n<li>Dodge sound students have been honored once again with two of the five nominations for the Student Recognition Award at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.broadwayworld.com\/bwwtv\/article\/Cinema-Audio-Society-Announces-Student-Recognition-Award-Finalists-20171201\">54th Annual Cinema Audio Society Awards<\/a>, including Xiang Li and Anna Wozniewicz. The winners will be announced in late February at a ceremony in Los Angeles.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11528 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/dodge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/74\/2018\/02\/deathindayhua.jpg\" alt=\"filmmaker, hua film festival, china, award\" width=\"396\" height=\"255\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Lin Wang\u2019s,\u00a0<em>Death in a Day<u>,<\/u><\/em>\u00a0won the Golden Award for Best Narrative Short at the <a href=\"http:\/\/hisff.huaplus.tv\/\">Hua International Short Film Festival<\/a> in China, taking home a whopping $5000 grand prize which she says will go towards pre-production on her first feature film.<\/li>\n<li>Eight films including Christy Westad and Elijah Guess\u2019\u00a0<em>Parched<\/em>, Julie Greiner\u2019s\u00a0<em>Human Town, U.S.A,<\/em>\u00a0Brian Robau\u2019s <em>It&#8217;s Just a Gun<\/em>, Amanda Renee Knox\u2019s\u00a0<em>Night Call<\/em>, Lane Lyle\u2019s <em>Distress<\/em>, Grant Moore\u2019s <em>Pickle<\/em>, Robby Bracker\u2019s\u00a0<em>CItizen<\/em>, and Paul Mowry\u2019s <em>Marty &amp; Stacy&#8217;s Pixelated Dream Show<u>,<\/u><\/em>\u00a0will all play the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.beaufortfilmfestival.com\/official-selections-2018\">13th Annual Beaufort International Film Festival<\/a> in South Carolina, with Grant, Lane, and Paul\u2019s films all nominated for Best Comedy.<\/li>\n<li>Graduate Directing student Ragini Bhasin has been selected for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.showmeshorts.co.nz\/for-filmmakers\/short-film-lab\/\">8th Annual Aotearoa Short Film Lab<\/a> in New Zealand in March put on by the Oscar-Qualifying Show Me Shorts Film Festival where she will be developing her short film concept and script with the guidance and advice of experienced industry mentors.
