Join us on Friday, March 1 at 7 p.m. in the Cloobeck Screening Room, Digital Media Arts Center.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Film\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nThis documentary by Zeinabu irene Davis provides intimate access to several filmmakers identified with L.A. Rebellion, including Charles Burnett, Ben Caldwell, Julie Dash, Haile Gerima, Barbara McCullough, Billy Woodberry and Davis herself, at work and in discussion.\u00a0 The film\u2019s topics include the origins of the name \u201cL.A. Rebellion,\u201d the importance of public education to this group and in today\u2019s world, and the intriguing question, \u201cwhat is a Black film?\u201d\u00a0 Convening these artists for a review of their experiences as students and fellow filmmakers, and working with them to powerfully historicize their legacy on film and in society, Davis creates a moving document and an important extension of their story.\u00a0\u2014<em>Shannon Kelley<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This event is free and open to the public.
