Quibi (a portmanteau of \u201cquick bites\u201d), set to launch in April 2020, will house serialized scripted and unscripted content as well as news and sports. &#8220;It will release fresh excerpts of content daily, to be watched during pockets of free time as people stand in line for coffee or find a dull moment in their day. Once content is on the service, users can access it whenever they want. It\u2019s not appointment viewing, though it\u2019s not binge TV either,&#8221; reports <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2019\/tv\/features\/jeffrey-katzenberg-quibi-antoine-fuqua-steven-spielberg-1203261900\/\">Variety<\/a>.\u00a0The company has raised\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2018\/digital\/news\/newtv-jeffrey-katzenberg-meg-whitman-1-billion-funding-1202897529\/\">$1 billion from investors<\/a> including Disney, NBCUniversal, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Viacom, WarnerMedia, Lionsgate, MGM, ITV and Entertainment One.<\/p>\n<p>Founder Jeffrey Katzenberg and CEO Meg Whitman have already announced a slew of projects from partners including Guillermo del Toro, Antoine Fuqua, Sam Raimi, Jason Blum, Steven Soderbergh, Catherine Hardwick, Anna Kendrick, Doug Liman, Laurence Fishburne and Stephen Curry\u2019s Unanimous Media. <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2019\/tv\/news\/steven-spielberg-quibi-jeffrey-katzenberg-horror-1203237395\/\">Steven Spielberg is creating \u201cAfter Dark,\u201d<\/a> a horror series users will be able to watch only between sundown and sunrise local time, and Quibi also has ordered shows featuring Tyra Banks, Chrissy Teigen, Don Cheadle and Idris Elba as well as a remake of MTV\u2019s \u201cPunk\u2019d.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In preparation of the company&#8217;s launch, Dodge students produced sample content for Quibi to test their new technology.<\/p>\n<h3>The Project<\/h3>\n<p>Kate Lilly (BFA, Film Production) &#8217;12, who works on the content team at Quibi, contacted Professors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/barbara-doyle\">Barbara Doyle<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/scott-arundale\">Scott Arundale<\/a> to assemble student interns to produce three films under five minutes&#8211;one documentary, one comedy and one drama.<\/p>\n<p>Dodge undergraduate and graduate students wrote, directed and produced all three clips.
