On Thursday, October 17, 2019 Dodge College hosted its Leo Freedman Foundation First Cut Screening<\/a> at the\u00a0Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dodge College\u2019s annual\u00a0Leo Freedman Foundation First Cut Screening<\/a> promotes a selection of top films from the previous year as determined by a panel of distinguished alumni and industry representatives.<\/p>\n

Interim Dean, Michael Kowalski, kicked off the program by welcoming guests and introducing the films:<\/p>\n

PREHEATED<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(dir. Luke Snedecor and Sarah Heinz) \u2013 A boy\u2019s plan to bake a birthday cake becomes disastrous when his scientist father\u2019s latest experiment gets added to the mix.<\/p>\n

RELENTLESS\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>(dir. Shelby Thompson) \u2013 The comeback story of a young action sport athlete who seemingly lost everything after a freak accident turned him quadriplegic.<\/p>\n

GHAZAAL<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(dir. Ragini Bhasin) \u2013 A thirteen-year-old Afghan refugee hustles around as she experiences her period in a refugee camp.<\/p>\n

EMBARKO<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(dir. Kailee Hague) \u2013 When two delivery dogs on a job discover buried treasure in the mountains, their conflicting interests lead to dire consequences.<\/p>\n

SKIN HUNGER<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(dir. Kristina Rodemann) \u2013 Desperately lonely, an undocumented immigrant goes to greater and greater lengths to\u00a0steal moments of touch from those around her.<\/p>\n

TWO PAPER NIGHTINGALES<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(dir. Kaylin George) \u2013 A fairy tale of two sisters torn apart by war, told from three different cultural perspectives.<\/p>\n

After the screening, guests enjoyed an evening reception where students, alumni, faculty and industry professionals enjoyed opportunities to network and connect with each other.<\/p>\n

\nEach film and crew had a designated station, where guests could learn more about each film and converse with filmmakers.<\/p>\n
