Dawn Taubin, a Dodge College professor of Public Relations and Advertising and former Warner Bros. Pictures marketing chief, is the panel moderator. A scholarship presentation and luncheon fill out the day before a formal networking mixer kicks off at 4:30 p.m. All events are in the Paul and Daranne Folino Theater in Marion Knott Studios, 283 N. Cypress Ave., Orange.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Panelists for the 14th annual Women in Focus Conference<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ocweekly.com\/navelgazing\/Diablo-Cody_square.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"float: right;margin-left: 5px\" alt=\"Diablo-Cody_square.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ocweekly.com\/navelgazing\/assets_c\/2013\/03\/Diablo-Cody_square-thumb-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>The announced panelists should have plenty of valuable insights to draw upon. Cody had been a stripper, journalist and novelist before her first screenplay became the surprising 2007 hit <i>Juno<\/i>, which was directed by Jason Reitman, starred Ellen Page and Michael Cera and won multiple awards. Cody (real name Brook Busey-Maurio) went on to develop the Showtime series<i> The United States of Tara<\/i> starring Toni Collette and write the script for the film <i>Young Adult<\/i> starring Charlize Theron. Cody has tweeted that her directorial debut, <i>Paradise<\/i>, hits theaters &#8220;soon.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ocweekly.com\/navelgazing\/Maya-Rudolph.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" alt=\"Maya-Rudolph.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ocweekly.com\/navelgazing\/assets_c\/2013\/03\/Maya-Rudolph-thumb-150x187.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"187\" \/><\/a>Rudolph, who is the daughter of music producer\/composer Richard Rudolph and the late singer Minnie Ripperton, is best known for being a cast member for years on <i>Saturday Night Live<\/i> and receiving an Emmy nomination when she returned to guest host. She is currently on the NBC sitcom <i>Up All Night<\/i>, was at the center of arguably the funniest scene in <i>Bridesmaids<\/i> and also appeared prominently in future cult classic <i>Idiocracy<\/i>.<br \/>\nOther panelist credits: Fletcher (<i>The Guilt Trip<\/i>, <i>The Proposal<\/i>, <i>27 Dresses<\/i>, <i>Step Up<\/i>), Langley (<i>Identity Thief<\/i>, <i>Ted<\/i>, <i>Pitch Perfect<\/i>, <i>This is 40<\/i>, <i>Bridesmaids<\/i>), Meyers (<i>It&#8217;s Complicated<\/i>, <i>The Holiday<\/i>, <i>Something&#8217;s Gotta Give<\/i>, <i>What Women Want<\/i>, <i>The Parent Trap<\/i>), Spheeris (<i>Black Sheep<\/i>, <i>The Little Rascals<\/i>, <i>The Beverly Hillbillies<\/i>, <i>Wayne&#8217;s World<\/i>, <i>The Decline of Western Civilization<\/i> documentaries).<\/p>\n<p>Dean Bob Bassett observes,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The caliber of the women participating in this conference each year is simply astonishing.
