The course will also serve as a practical introduction to an important and quickly emerging media art form\/career path.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FTV 329-04 \/ FTV 507-01 Filmmakers and Actors Workshop<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>M W 1:00pm-5:15pm<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Instructor: Dave Kost<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is an intensive workshop in which graduate students work in all disciplines to create short projects cast from a group of dedicated actors in a co-enrolled course.\u00a0 Whether you are a director, cinematographer, editor, producer, sound or production designer, this is the class to take if you are interested in gaining production experience this summer.\u00a0 To register or for more information, contact Professor Dave Kost: <a href=\"mailto:kost@chapman.edu\">kost@chapman.edu<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>FTV 468-01 \/ FTV 568-01 Avid Certification Prep<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>T W TH 2:00pm-5:00pm<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Instructor: Dan Leonard<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The course will teach the core skills for editing using Avid Media Composer 5.5 and will introduce the fundamental concepts and workflow of editing. It is designed for novice and intermediate users using Avid official training curriculum.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FTV 587-01 \/ FTV 587-02 Short Script Workshop<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>T F 10:00am-1:45pm<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>M TH 5:30pm-9:45pm<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Instructors: James Dutcher and Paul Wolansky<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is an intensive workshop in writing short screenplays. Students will write in a variety of styles and complete a number of short scripts.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Summer Session II<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>FTV 359 \/ FTV 559 Pro Tools Certification<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>M W F 10:00am-12:30pm (June 17-July 6)<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Instructor: Dan Pavelin\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This course will explore Pro Tools, the industry standard software for film\/television sound, in a completely hands-on environment, covering advanced functions such as additional editing tools, elastic audio, MIDI and virtual instruments, and more!\u00a0 And at the conclusion of the course, students will be eligible to take Avid&#8217;s Pro Tools certification exam and attain official &#8220;Pro Tools Certified User&#8221; status. This is the same material that Avid offers to professionals at training centers in Los Angeles, but Dodge College is offering it as a 3-unit course that you can take for academic credit, right here at Chapman!\u00a0\u00a0 Bolster your resume, your Pro Tools knowledge, and your sound-editing skills all at once!\u00a0 **Grads, register for the course as &#8220;559.&#8221;\u00a0 Undergrads, register as &#8220;359.&#8221;\u00a0 This course will count on your major as an upper-division FTV elective. The directors and screenwriters are closely mentored by the instructor, and narrative and character work is emphasized.
