From an outdoor film festival, to documentaries about historic Japan, to cross-cultural exchanges, our professors are offering students unique opportunities all over the world.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>FTV 361I-01\/561I-01 Il Cinema Ritrovato Film Festival &#8211; COURSE FULL!<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tour the film restoration lab and cinematheque, explore the walled city of Bologna, enjoy world famous cuisine, marvel at historic medieval architecture, and enjoy great films in contemporary theaters and outdoor evening screenings in the charming Piazza Maggiore!<\/li>\n<li>Bologna, Italy<\/li>\n<li>Professor <a href=\"mailto:carman@chapman.edu\">Emily Carman<\/a><\/li>\n<li>June 25-July 5, 2015<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>DA 245 The Influence of French Animation<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This course is 17-day intensive travel course to study the profound and exquisite impact of French animation on the animation art form through cultural immersion, study, lectures, tours of museums, schools, and studios, culminating in attending the oldest and most prestigious animated film festival in the world, <em>Festival International du Film d&#8217;Animation d&#8217;Annecy <\/em>in Annecy, France<em>.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Paris and Annecy, France<\/li>\n<li>Professor <a href=\"mailto:kroyer@chapman.edu\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Kroyer<\/a><\/li>\n<li>June 5-June 21, 2015<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>FTV 329\/529 Discover Documentary: Japan<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We will spend time in the country&#8217;s capital of Tokyo before heading to the remote, coastal town of Kawazu, where we will spend several days producing short documentaries. We will then continue filming scenic and editing while we travel to the Kii Peninsula, one of the most historic areas of Japan. We will spend several days trekking in the peninsula\u2019s Kimono Kodo region, the spiritual heartland of Japan, ascending to mountainous villages via ancient pilgrimage trails. Along the way we will stay in traditional ryokans, soak in the healing waters of the onsen, and continue filming and editing our documentaries, completing rough cuts of our films by the end of the course. The course will emphasize visual anthropology and ethnography and exploring other cultures and spiritual traditions through the medium of documentary.<\/li>\n<li>Japan<\/li>\n<li>Professor <a href=\"mailto:rubin@chapman.edu\" target=\"_blank\">Sally Rubin<\/a><\/li>\n<li>June 2-June 14, 2015<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>NWD 375\/575 International Documentary: Laos<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The International Documentary program will be taking a group of 12 students from Dodge, the Law School, and others, to Laos this summer to produce short documentaries about innovative NGOs in that country.
