The National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (
\nNSSLHA<\/a>
\n) Chapter Honors are awarded to NSSLHA chapters that demonstrates significant combination of: an awareness of student issues and concerns, outreach to the community, educational opportunities, and social and fund-raising activities promoting both the professions and national NSSLHA. Gold level recognition is awarded to chapters who meet the highest qualifications as determined by national NSSLHA. These qualifications include a minimum donation amount to the “NSSLHA Loves”, contribution to regional professional publications, completion of grant applications, and advocacy and awareness activities to name a few.
\n
\nOut of 319 NSSLHA chapters, Chapman University’s chapter was bestowed this gold level recognition along with four other chapters. Our chapter was the only chapter to receive this recognition for a second consecutive year (see the announcement from last year
\nhere<\/a>
\n). All five gold-level chapters are in the running to be crowned Chapter of The Year at the 2012 ASHA convention in Atlanta, November 15-17.
\n
\nNSSLHA is a pre-professional membership association that consists of graduate and undergraduate students involved in the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders.  It is the only national student organization in the field that is recognized by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (
\nASHA<\/a>
