A $1.4M grant secured by<a title=\"Frank Frisch, Ph.D.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/frank-frisch\" target=\"_blank\"> Dr. Frank Frisch<\/a>, dual appointment with the <a title=\"College of Educational Studies\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/ces\/index.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">College of Educational Studies<\/a> and <a title=\"Schmid College of Science and Technology\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/scst\/\" target=\"_blank\">Schmid College of Science and Technology<\/a>, from the <a title=\"STEM\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cde.ca.gov\/pd\/ca\/sc\/stemintrod.asp\" target=\"_blank\">California Department of Education\u2019s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics<\/a> (STEM) office will be used to provide specialized Chapman courses over the summer and throughout the year to Anaheim\u2019s teachers. Chapman scientists from physics, food science, computer science and biology as well as pedagogy experts from the College of Educational Studies will serve as instructors and mentors for the AUHSD teachers in the hopes of improving didactic and laboratory instruction in what is already an excellent school district.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2364\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2364\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/education\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/83\/2014\/02\/Frank-Frisch.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2364\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2364 \" alt=\"Frank Frisch\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/education\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/83\/2014\/02\/Frank-Frisch.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"265\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/education\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/83\/2014\/02\/Frank-Frisch.jpg 500w, https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/education\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/83\/2014\/02\/Frank-Frisch-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2364\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Frank Frisch , Ph.D. presenting at Chapman University TEDx.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Fifty two AUHSD science teachers will be selected to participate in the Chapman Anaheim Science Partnership. Novel aspects to this grant include extensive use of smartphone apps for instruction and the use of <a title=\"Chapman\u2019s Mathematics, Engineering and Science Achievement\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/scst\/mesa-program.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Chapman\u2019s Mathematics, Engineering and Science Achievement (<\/a>MESA) programming. The subtext to this enterprise is to infuse high school teachers with the ability to look beyond their particular disciplines and enable students to see how science is in every aspect of daily living.
