College of Educational Studies Professor Michael Hass was honored with the California Association of School Psychologists (CASP) highest award during a reception in Newport Beach on October 28. The Sandra Goff Memorial Award is the organizations Lifetime Achievement Honor that recognizes career-long distinguished service to the profession of school psychology in California and beyond.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have known Michael for 41 years; we were in the same school psychology graduate training program at CSUN,\u201d said Dr. Barbra D\u2019Incau, a past president of CASP. \u201cMike is both a friend and an esteemed colleague. In graduate school, he made everyone- students, children, parents, teachers, staff and his graduate peers- feel safe, acknowledged and valued. His soft voice and easy smile conveyed calm and a sense that all was right with the world, or at least it could be.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dr. Hass worked in public schools as a School Psychologist for more than 25 years before becoming the coordinator of the graduate program in School Psychology at Chapman in 1997. He is proud that in 2005, Chapman University became the first private institution of high education to earn approval by the National Association of School Psychologists.<\/p>\n
He is currently Chair of the Board of Executives of the Consortium to Advance School Psychology in Vietnam (CASP-V).\u00a0 Since 2009, he has traveled to Vietnam four times to teach and conduct research.\u00a0 Dr. Hass is also Editor of the journal Contemporary School Psychology.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
