{"id":5083,"date":"2019-11-07T13:53:24","date_gmt":"2019-11-07T21:53:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogschapman.wpenginepowered.com\/education\/2019\/11\/07\/thompson-policy-institute-on-disability-tpi-brings-on-new-research-director\/"},"modified":"2019-11-07T13:53:24","modified_gmt":"2019-11-07T21:53:24","slug":"thompson-policy-institute-on-disability-tpi-brings-on-new-research-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/education\/2019\/11\/07\/thompson-policy-institute-on-disability-tpi-brings-on-new-research-director\/","title":{"rendered":"Thompson Policy Institute on Disability (TPI) Brings on New Research Director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of its ongoing efforts to foster inclusive education for all students, in California and beyond, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/education\/centers-and-partnerships\/thompson-policy-institute\/index.aspx\">Thompson Policy Institute on Disability (TPI)<\/a> has appointed a new research director: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/our-faculty\/meghan-cosier\">Dr. Meghan Cosier<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In order to fulfill its mission, the TPI creates initiatives in the form of research projects and real-world practice to inform quality policy recommendations to decision-makers. To be effective, TPI must continue to develop its current practices and research.<\/p>\n<p>According to TPI Director Don Cardinal, \u201cOur research funding has grown tremendously and adding the talents of Dr. Meghan Cosier as our Research Director will allow us to not only expand our funding but will ensure the highest quality and meaningful research.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Cosier is currently an Associate Professor and the Director of Teacher Education in Chapman\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/education\/index.aspx\">Attallah College of Educational Studies<\/a>, which is also the home of TPI. She will continue in her current role while focusing her research efforts on TPI\u2019s initiatives. As Research Director, Dr. Cosier will join in TPI&#8217;s research work supported by a new <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/research\/2019\/10\/29\/chapman-receives-over-400000-grant-from-bill-melinda-gates-foundation\/\">Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation grant<\/a>. Dr. Cosier will team-up with TPI\u2019s Associate Director Dr. Audri Sandoval Gomez to expand an already robust role of Graduate Research Assistants in the Attallah College&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/education\/graduate\/phd-education\/index.aspx\">Ph.D. in Education program<\/a> in support of TPI\u2019s research initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeghan has transformed the teacher education programs in Attallah College,&#8221; said Dr. Audri Sandoval Gomez. &#8220;She truly understands and practices TPI\u2019s values of collaboration and inclusion.
