The grant supports soon-to-be teachers and pupil personnel services providers by providing a one-time grant of up to $10,000 to help pay for their preparation program.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe Golden State Teacher Grant is an exceptional opportunity for future educators,\u201d said Dr. Trisha Sugita, Director of Teacher Education at Chapman University. \u201cCalifornia is facing a significant teacher shortage, and this grant is key to ensuring our education communities have access to the best teachers, while reducing the burden of student debt.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Who Qualifies for the Golden State Teacher Grant?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students participating in a professional preparation program leading to a preliminary teaching credential or a pupil personnel services credential, at a qualifying institution, can apply to the Golden State Teacher Grant Program to receive one-time grant funds of up to $10,000. Students must plan to teach in California for four years after graduation (see below).<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Students enrolled in the following Attallah College programs qualify: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Teacher Education &amp; Special Education, MA School Counseling, Ed.S. in School Psychology, MACI (fifth year only).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Enrollment timeline: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students who have applied for enrollment to the designated Attallah College programs, on or after January 1, 2020 are eligible to participate in the grant.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Incoming students:<\/b> CSAC is working to develop a process by which students that <i>express interest to enroll in <\/i>a preliminary teaching credential or pupil personnel services credential, may submit a request for a pre-enrollment conditional award notice. This will allow you to plan ahead, so that you can earmark grant funds towards your tuition costs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>What Are the Grant Requirements?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Before accepting the Golden State Teacher Grant, all applicants must agree to the terms and conditions of the agreement. In addition to completing the program requirements, the agreement requires recipients to fulfill several conditions:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Work at a priority school. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The grant requires students to work in California at a priority school &#8211; and to complete <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">2 years of service within 4 years of their program completion date.\u00a0 <\/span><b><\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctc.ca.gov\/commission\/notices\/gs-teacher-list\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A current list of priority schools is available on the CTC website<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Maintain good academic standing.<\/b> Grant recipients must maintain good academic standing while they are enrolled in their CTC-approved preparation program. Students must complete their preparation program and earn a preliminary credential within three years after the first distribution of grant funds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As with most grant agreements, if Golden State Teacher Grant recipients do not fulfill each of these obligations within the allotted time frame, they must repay the grant reward in part or in full. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gstg.csac.ca.gov\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">See the GSTG website for more details<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What Are the Steps to Apply?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.chapman.edu\/education\/2020\/04\/03\/attallah-college-receives-full-maximum-seven-year-accreditation\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">CTC-accredited institution<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Chapman University\u2019s Attallah College of Educational Studies is proud to be a Golden State Teacher Grant program. Here are the steps to apply for the grant and begin a career in education at Chapman:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">1. Apply to an eligible CTC-approved Attallah College program:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/education\/graduate\/teacher-education\/index.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Teacher Education Programs<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/education\/graduate\/counseling.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">MA School Counseling Program<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapman.edu\/education\/graduate\/school-psychology.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ed.S. in School Psychology <\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2.
